The big picture: This category covers the general-purpose conversational assistants built for everyday use — answering questions, drafting text, and holding a conversation across a huge range of topics. They differ mainly in ecosystem: Grok is built into X, Meta AI is built into Instagram/WhatsApp/Facebook, and Gemini is built into Google's search and Workspace tools, while ChatGPT and Claude are primarily standalone destinations.
